Dear Medical Mission Exchange participant:

I hope that your Fall missions are going well and that you have lots of volunteers for your 2009 schedules. I just wanted to remind all MMEX participants to take a moment to add all trips you have scheduled to the MMEX calendar (if you have not already done so.)

To enter the trip information just go to www.mmex.org and click on “Add a Trip.” It is quick, and could help other medical mission organizations connect patients with providers. You can also send your schedules to me (lylekarim@mmex.org), and I will enter them.

The MMEX database is useful because it lists medical mission trips far ahead of their scheduled dates. This makes it possible for providers to connect with one another to arrange the most appropriate referral for their patients. No medical mission has the luxury of having all specialties available. The ultimate beneficiaries of the information you access and share at Medical Mission Exchange are the patients themselves.

We have recently added some new features to the MMEX site!

  • Frequently Asked Questions eg. Why should my group share this information?
  • The Home page makes it easier than ever to Add a Trip or to Download a Medical Mission Contact List and Schedule
  • Spread the Word page -- Easy ways to get the word out! The more medical mission organizations that participate in MMEX, the better the chances that all patients being served will receive referrals to specialists, or receive follow-up care.
Please check our Related Links if you ever need information about other medical mission organizations working in our target countries. We also keep a listing of relevant conferences and courses.

We at Medical Mission Exchange (MMEX) thank you so much for your ongoing participation in the MMEX database. Please let me know if there is anything we can provide from MMEX to help in your work.

Sincerely,

Lyle Karim
